We have what appears to be an old soak away, though I believe it has been damaged or compromised in some way. Basically, the amount of water that runs down the garden cannot soak away fast enough when the rainfall is heavy and longer term and so water pours out onto the road. There is a large pipe with a diameter of approximately 50cm or more which is supposed to carry water under the main road into the Gareloch (near Faslane submarine base), although, even when the rainfall is heavy, nothing whatsoever comes out of the pipe.
I am buying the house in question and the damp and timber survey has stated that the driveway should be lowered due to it being too high up the damp coarse and partially covering the air bricks, I am hoping that rather than digging up the whole drive, we could instead install a trench drain around the areas affected and have excess water drain away
Water does not seem to be soaking away as it used to. Not overflowing but levels seem high. Septic tank emptied last December.
Building 3no. of house requires foundation works as well as underpin and drainage works
I'm interested in having a new soakaway installed under my gravel driveway, to connect to a plastic downpipe. Rain catchment area = 16sq.m. so a small soakaway should suffice. I already have the rainwater gulley, 6m pipe and all fittings.
Garden tends to have surface water lying on it and I would like a soakaway fitted to prevent this from occuring. Am not sure where you can put the pipe work for the drainage as we have a large patio area by the only drain that I am away of or if there is another method that can be used.. Currently just looking for a quote and ideas of what is involved and available. Thank you
Water gathers beneath and around the house in rainy conditions. The ground has a high clay content. I currently use a pump under one end of the house; but water still gathers under the other end of the house. I am looking for a more permanent solution such as a French drain or Saokaway.
We may be buying a property whose cesspit is currently faulty and probably does not meet current regulation (installed some 30 years ago) Endless problems with it leakage etc and is situated across a small lane(15 meters or so ) under a yard which is currently the base for agricultural machinery. There is a covenant on the deeds of the yard to allow the tank there but the owner is not happy with this arrangement due to constant leakage and smell and the site of the soak away. The property is next door to me and we also have a cess pit which is old but is situated on my property and is in need of upgrading. I require a quote ( if regulations allow ) for a cesspit which will service both properties but will be situated on my land. The cesspit on my land is situated across a small road, 10 meters wide which is used daily by local traffic.
We have a property which needs 2 soakaways installed: 1 at the front and 1 at the back (with easy access). We will also need to connect this to the drainage pipes from the roof (4 connections: 2 pipes already in place, 2 more to be installed). We will prefer to provide the materials since most is already there.
