Internal Painting and Decorating in B18
Posted 22 August 2016
Job Description:
Our music school is in a basement in the city centre. It is an old building and it should have been tanked and damp proofed but hasnt been. It would cost the landlord too much to do it now so they give us cheap rent and we jut have to scrape and paint it every 6 months to a year. The exterior walls are all brick, and these are the walls which have problems. All or our interior partition walls are plaster board and can be easily and quickly pained with a roller. We usually scrape the walls (to remove any loose brick and debris, then clean the surfaces and paint it with a few coats of good outdoor masonry paint. (We have tried many paints over the years and this seems to work best. Not all the walls are bad. If you see the description above of each room, the main walls which will need the most attention before painting are the Keyboard room / Reception / Drum Room. The others are very minimal and should be ok to just clean and paint. (Measurements are Width x Length in Metres) 1. Reception area = 3.41 x 8.9 (one brick wall 8.9m in length. Others are plasterboard and easily to roller with no prep) 2. Office = 2.36 x 3.47 (2 brick walls, 1 plaster board) 3. Keyboard Room = 5.8 x 7.05 (75% of this room is brick, one plaster board wall) 4. Vocal Room = 2.95 x 2.63 (50% brick) 5. Drum Room = 4.57 x 4.76 (Lower half of the brick walls have been boarded, this will need painting as well as the bricks above) 6. Guitar Room = 2.92 x 5.96 (75% brick, but these are good walls and will not need much prep) 7. Kitchen Area = 2.36 x 3.47 (all brick some wood) 8. Hallway - approx 1 x 8 (95% plasterboard with one brick wall which will need scraping) 9. Wooden Banister and wood work on a single flight of stairs. Also the walls (approx 33% brick) We are closed until the 3rd of a september. All work needs to completed before then. As there is new signage and equipment to be installed, as well as cleaning and putting the original furniture and equipment back, painting would need to be completed by the end of this week at latest. Also the equipment and furniture can be moved around but not removed from the property. So you will need lots of covers / dust-sheets.
