Extension in CO1
Posted 16 August 2016
Job Description:
Hi I'm moving to a small Victorian end of terrace house in Colchester within the next 2-3 months. The house is in new town and has a typical small separate dining room leading onto a galley gall kitchen at the back of the house. I'm enquiring about trying to open up the space somehow, maybe add a small extension to the side of the galley kitchen so I have a larger kitchen to work in. As the kitchen is at the back of the house to add the extension you would have to knock down part of an external wall though and I'm just wondering how feasible and how costly such a thing could be? Also I'm assuming I would need building regulation permission as dealing with supporting walls to do something like this, please? The dining room is about 10.8 ft by 10.8 ft and the galley kitchen 8ft by 6 ft. You wouldn't be able to extend that much to the side of the kitchen anyway - just to the width of the dining room, but there is a washroom at the back of the kitchen containing a toilet which I'd still like to keep but maybe you could get more length on the extension, so maybe extension could end up being approx. 5ft x 10ft.
