The Sarisbury Athletic Cricket Club golf day was a huge success with nearly £2,000 raised for the club to help fund the coming season where the 1st team is hoping to get promotion to the Southern League Premier Division.
The weather was bitterly cold as we arrived at the course and prepared for tee off, with the majority of players well wrapped up and wearing gloves and hats. However, the rain stayed away and by the afternoon the sun broke through and we all started to warm up a little. The course was tricky in places due to the wet weather the previous weeks, although the greens were in great condition and actually played very quick. Some great shots were seen throughout the day as well as a few shouts when a long putt or two was sunk!
The prize sponsored by FindaTrade was given for the best stableford score of the day and won by John White with a score of 39 on a 3/4 handicap – see pic. John’s team also won the overall team prize with a combined score (best 3 scores per hole) of 112 point. Both winning scores were slightly lower than previous years and down to the trickier conditions and the cold also had an affect.
Both Paul and myself played better than we had expected scoring 30 and 20 points respectively and thoroughly enjoyed the day. We are both looking forward to getting out on the course again soon and plan to be back next year to sponsor and play in the tournament again. We’d like to thank Andrew Oliphant from SACC for organising another great golf day and evening!
