Housing standards will now be included in Building regulations. In order to make the system easier to understand and follow, securing housing standards so that all the requirements are in one place, it will include optional building regulations that will only apply when needed.
Changes to Part L will apply in England from April 2014 and all new homes will need to achieve a 6% carbon improvement on 2010 regulations.
